In-Country Value (ICV) is an ambitious plan embarked by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to boost the oil and gas industry's contribution in the socio-economic development of the Sultanate of Oman. ICV is defined as the total spend retained in country that benefits business development, contributes to human capability development and stimulates productivity in Oman's economy. Through implementation of ICV, the aim is to induce economic growth and contribute to sustainable development through promoting human resource development and building/enhancing local capabilities by increased local sourcing of goods and services.
Since commencement of operations in 2006, Abraj Energy Services (AES) has grown from a company of under 500 employee to over 2200 employee. The Company has consistently managed to increase the employment of Omani nationals at different level in the organization. The current Omanization at AES stands at 84%.
In an effort to create specialized workforce, AES constantly strives to provide high quality structured training programs to enhance the skills and develop competency of staff in various disciplines i.e. electrical, mechanical, drilling operations and maintenance. The objective is to provide employee with the requisite knowledge and transfer of skills for effective engagement on every task undertaken. All training programs are done in house at our training center by qualified personnel. Our training programs have gained international accreditation from the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and the International Well Control Forum (IWCF).
In support of ICV objectives, national sourcing of goods and services take a priority in AES by maximizing procurement of goods manufactured in Oman and services provided by Omani companies. In AES, there are more than 200 approved local suppliers of which there are substantial number of Small and Medium Size enterprises (SME) as well as Local Community Contractors (LCC) operating within the oil and gas concession areas. AES endeavors to exceed the expectations of ICV as it has entranced the ICV values in its business process. Depending on their field of expertise, these companies get invited to participate in tenders related to goods and services. In fact, every AES field site has both SME and LCC companies providing goods and services.
